Come home to Shelter Springs this Christmas, where hearts are warm and hopes are bright…

Growing up at the Shelter Inn hotel, Natalie Shepherd envied guests who could come and go as they pleased. So when it was time to finally leave for college and put the lush green mountains around Shelter Springs—along with the cloud of loss that seemed to follow her family—behind her, she swore she’d never come back. But now her sister McKenna needs a favor. On pregnancy bed rest at doctor’s orders, McKenna needs a helping hand with her two young daughters and someone to take over the inn during the hectic holiday season, and Nat can’t refuse. And just when things can’t get worse, she runs into her late brother’s best friend, Griffin Taylor…

Griff has mixed feelings about Natalie’s return. She’s just as beautiful and full of life as he remembered, but there’s a secret he’s carried for years about her brother—and the guilt is eating away at him. Still, Christmas in this small town is filled with treasured traditions and new adventures that hold the promise of something sweet and lasting. From matchmaking seniors to rambunctious nieces, it seems everyone is hoping Nat and Griff will put loss behind them and find a happy new beginning…

Review:

Quaint, spirited, and heartwarming!

Christmas at the Shelter Inn is a cosy, beguiling tale that takes you into the lives of two main characters. Natalie Shepard, a young woman who heads home for the first time in a long time right before Christmas in order to help out her sister, and Griffin Taylor, a hardworking doctor who is trying to do whatever he can to heal the hurts of the past and open a successful private practice in his hometown.

The prose is charming and light. The characters are thoughtful, lonely, and kind. And the plot is a delightfully enchanting tale full of life, loss, love, tender moments, friendship, family, community, self-discovery, merry preparations, and a touch of romance!

Overall, Christmas at the Shelter Inn is a clean, festive, uplifting treat by Thayne that will have you believing in the magic of Christmas and daydreaming of snowflakes, twinkling lights, decorated trees, and scrumptious wintery treats.

The life Olivia Harper always dreamed of isn’t so dreamy these days. The 16-hour work days are unfulfilling and so are things with her on-again, off-again boyfriend. But when she hears that her estranged mother, Juliet, has been seriously injured in a car accident, Liv has no choice but to pack up her life and head home to beautiful Cape Sanctuary on the Northern California coast.

It’s just for a few months—that’s what Liv keeps telling herself. But the closer she gets to Cape Sanctuary, the painful memories start flooding back: Natalie, her vibrant, passionate older sister who downward-spiraled into addiction. The fights with her mother who enabled her sister at every turn. The overdose that took Natalie, leaving her now-teenaged daughter, Caitlin, an orphan.

As Liv tries to balance her own needs with those of her injured mother and an obstinate, resentful fifteen-year-old, it becomes clear that all three Harper women have been keeping heartbreaking secrets from one another. And as those secrets are revealed, Liv, Juliet, and Caitlin will see that it’s never too late—or too early—to heal family wounds and find forgiveness.

Review:

Enchanting, heartwarming, and touching!

The Sea Glass Cottage is a heartfelt, beguiling story that sweeps you away to the idyllic town of Cape Sanctuary and immerses you into the lives of the Harper family as they confront the past, accept the things they cannot change, repair fractured relationships, take chances, and embrace the future.

The writing is polished and expressive. The characterization is spot on with a whole slew of characters that are relatable, multi-layered, and genuine. And the plot, including all the engaging subplots, skillfully intertwines and unravels into a big-hearted, hopeful tale about life, love, loss, family, secrets, friendship, misunderstandings, romance, contentment, forgiveness, and the importance of communication.

Overall, The Sea Glass Cottage is a compelling, moving, beautifully-written tale that reminds us to always surround ourselves with those we love and live each day to the fullest.
