Franny Doyle is having the worst day. She’s been laid off from her (admittedly mediocre) job, the subway doors ripped her favorite silk dress to ruins, and now she’s flashed her unmentionables to half of lower Manhattan. On the plus side, a dashing stranger came to her rescue with his (Gucci!) suit jacket. On the not-so-plus side, he can’t get away from her fast enough.

Worse yet? Someone posted their (entirely not) meet-cute online. Suddenly Franny and her knight-in-couture, Hayes Montgomery III, are the newest social media sensation, and all of New York is shipping #SubwayQTs.

Only Franny and Hayes couldn’t be a more disastrous match. She’s fanciful, talkative, and creative. He’s serious, shy, and all about numbers. Luckily, in a city of eight million people, they never have to meet again. Yet somehow, Hayes and Franny keep running into each other—and much to their surprise, they enjoy each other’s company. A lot. But when Franny’s whole world is turned upside down (again!), can she find the courage to trust in herself and finally have the life—and love—she’s always wanted?

Review:

Amusing, flirty, and Charming!

In a New York Minute is a heartwarming, comical tale that takes you into the lives of the quirky, creative Franny and the handsome, successful Hayes Montgomery III as they navigate a relationship that includes a subway meet-cute that goes instantaneously viral, lifestyles that are worlds apart, awkward interactions, romantic moments, and undeniable chemistry.

The writing is whimsical and smooth. The characters are fun-loving, feisty, and endearing. And the plot is an irresistible blend of tricky situations, tender moments, humorous hijinks, self-discovery, light drama, friendship, family, happiness, and swoon-worthy romance.

Overall, In a New York Minute is a funny, enjoyable, highly entertaining treat by Spencer that I not only devoured in one sitting but absolutely loved.

Kamila Hussain’s life might not be perfect, but, whew, it’s close. She lives a life of comfort, filled with her elaborate Bollywood movie parties, a dog with more Instagram followers than most reality stars, a job she loves, and an endless array of friends who clearly need her help finding love. In fact, Kamila is so busy with her friends’ love lives, she’s hardly given any thought to her own . . .

Fortunately, Kamila has Rohan Nasser. A longtime friend of the family, he’s hugely successful, with the deliciously lean, firm body of a rock climber. Only lately, Kamila’s “harmless flirting” with Rohan is making her insides do a little bhangra dance.

But between planning the local shelter’s puppy prom, throwing a huge work event, and proving to everyone that she’s got it all figured out, Kamila isn’t letting herself get distracted—until her secret nemesis returns to town with an eye for Rohan. Suddenly, it seems like the more Kamila tries to plan, the more things are starting to unravel—and her perfectly ordered life is about to be turned upside down.

Review:

Heartwarming, witty, and romantic!

Kamila Knows Best is a charming, playful tale that transports you to Toronto, Canada and into the lives of the responsible, handsome Rohan Nasser and the spirited, intelligent Kamila Hussain as they discover that even though they’ve known each other forever and are the best of friends perhaps there’s a little something more underneath all that innocent flirting and casual embraces than they’ve ever cared to admit.

The writing is humorous and light. The characters are kind, supportive, and genuine. And the plot is an entertaining mix of friendship, family, snappy banter, shameless flirting, red-hot chemistry, tender moments, responsibilities, community, and culture.

Overall, Kamila Knows Best is a sexy, sweet, uplifting tale by Heron with a whole cast of characters I couldn’t help but fall in love with, an inclusive, diverse storyline that kept me engaged from start to finish, and a happy-ever-after ending that made me swoon.

He was the most beautiful man alive.
And if I wasn’t careful, he was going to be my death.

*A scorchingly hot modern retelling of Psyche and Eros that’s as sinful as it is sweet.*

In the ultra-modern city of Olympus, there’s always a price to pay. Psyche knew she’d have to face Aphrodite’s ire eventually, but she never expected her literal heart to be at stake…or for Aphrodite’s gorgeous son to be the one ordered to strike the killing blow.

Eros has no problem shedding blood. But when it comes time to take out his latest target, he can’t do it. Confused by his reaction to Psyche, he does the only thing he can think of to keep her safe: he marries her. Psyche vows to make Eros’s life a living hell until they find a way out of this mess. But as lines blur and loyalties shift, she realizes he might take her heart after all…and she’s not sure she can survive the loss.

Review:

Witty, dark, and wickedly seductive!

Electric Idol is a steamy, provocative retelling that takes you on a journey into the life of Psyche Dimitriou, a candidate to become the new Hera who, after causing a scandal and falling under the wrath of Aphrodite, finds herself needing the protection of a fake marriage to the one man, Aphrodite’s fixer and son, Eros who has literally been sent to take her heart.

The writing is fluid and enticing. The characters are consumed, sassy, and endearing. And the plot is a delightfully salacious tale of desire, temptation, mystique, attraction, chemistry, danger, and sizzling romance.

Overall, Electric Idol is an alluring, fun, spicy tale that I absolutely adored. It is the second title in the Dark Olympus series by Robert that I am now totally hooked on and is, in my opinion, a series that just keeps getting better and better.

Savannah Cade is a low-level editor at Pennington Publishing, a prestigious publisher producing only the highest of highbrow titles. And while editing the latest edition of The Anthology of Medieval Didactic Poetry may be her day job, she has two secrets she’s hiding.

One: She’s writing a romance novel.

Two: She’s discovered the Book Nook—a secret room in the publishing house where she finds inspiration for her “lowbrow” hobby.

After leaving her manuscript behind one afternoon, she returns to the nook only to discover someone has written notes in the margins. Savannah’s first response to the criticism is defensive, but events transpire that force her to admit that she needs the help of this shadowy editor after all. As the notes take a turn for the romantic, and as Savannah’s madcap life gets more complicated than ever, she uses the process of elimination to identify her mysterious editor—only to discover that what she truly wants and what she should want just might not be the same. Melissa Ferguson’s latest—a love letter to books, readers, and romance—will leave fans laughing out loud and swooning in the same breath.

Review:

Cute, light, and heartwarming!

Meet Me in the Margins is a sweet, engaging, quirky tale that takes you on a journey into the life of nonfiction editor Savannah Cade as she navigates career uncertainty, financial struggles, romantic entanglements, demanding expectations, an unsupportive family, and a mystery reader who is blunt but nevertheless extremely helpful.

The writing is amusing and fluid. The characters are endearing, dependable, and supportive. And the plot is a lovely blend of tension, humour, chemistry, friendship, workplace drama, awkward mishaps, tender moments, self-reflection, tricky situations, taking chances, moving forward, and the ups and downs of editing.

Overall, Meet Me in the Margins is a charming, tender, delightful story by Ferguson that was a pleasure to read, with its characters I couldn’t help but root for, and an interesting, insightful look into the complex world of publishing.

He was supposed to be a myth. But from the moment I crossed the River Styx and fell under his dark spell… he was, quite simply, mine.

Society darling Persephone Dimitriou plans to flee the ultra-modern city of Olympus and start over far from the backstabbing politics of the Thirteen Houses. But all that’s ripped away when her mother ambushes her with an engagement to Zeus, the dangerous power behind their glittering city’s dark facade.

With no options left, Persephone flees to the forbidden undercity and makes a devil’s bargain with a man she once believed a myth… a man who awakens her to a world she never knew existed.

Hades has spent his life in the shadows, and he has no intention of stepping into the light. But when he finds that Persephone can offer a little slice of the revenge he’s spent years craving, it’s all the excuse he needs to help her—for a price. Yet every breathless night spent tangled together has given Hades a taste for Persephone, and he’ll go to war with Olympus itself to keep her close…

A modern retelling of Hades and Persephone that’s as sinful as it is sweet.

Review:

Titillating, edgy, and unique!

Neon Gods is a dramatic, spicy retelling that takes you on a journey into the life of Persephone Dimitriou, the dutiful, intelligent daughter of Demeter who, after finding out her marriage to the cruel, ancient Zeus has been arranged, flees to the only place she thinks she’ll be safe, across the River Styx, into the arms of the one man she never believed truly existed, the devilishly handsome, darkly sexy Hades.

The writing is sultry and smooth. The characters are intense, impulsive, and brazen. And the tantalizing, alluring plot is filled with desire, temptation, danger, deception, mystique, palpable attraction, sizzling chemistry, violence, and erotic sex scenes.

Overall, Neon Gods is an intriguing, seductive, mystical tale by Robert that had just the right amount of mystery, steam, mythology characters, and bad boy vibes to keep me engaged from start to finish. As most of you know, I don’t read a lot of fantasy, and I have never read a novel by Katee Robert before, but I have to tell you I really enjoyed this one, and I can’t wait to read what happens in Dark Olympus next.

A heartwarming story of sisterhood, second chances, and falling in love

Gabriella Monroe is doing her best to pretend that everything is fine, but her life is a mess. Sales are down at her vintage dress shop, her beloved grandmother isn’t her usual spunky self, and Gabby desperately misses the closeness she had with her sisters, Margaret and Emma—who were once so inseparable that their family called them the Monroe Musketeers.

When the sisters stumble across a stash of letters that reveals their grandmother’s secret life, Gabby sees an opportunity to bring the sisters back together again and best of all, raise her grandmother’s spirits. And sure, this new project makes it easier to pretend her own life isn’t crashing around her, but concentrating on helping everyone else and ignoring her own feelings is what Gabby does best.

Except when it comes to Jake Maddox. Once the boy next door she crushed on—hard—he’s grown into an even more intriguing man, and her attraction to him isn’t so easy to hide. It’s clear he’s just as interested in her, but dating Jake would only muddy up her already complicated life. Or is it finally time to put herself first and risk it all for a chance at happiness?

Review:

Optimistic, warm, and sweet!

The Marvelous Monroe Girls is a winsome, compelling tale that takes us to the small town of Harbor Cove and into the life of the unsettled, troubled Gabriella Monroe as she meanders through all sorts of highs and lows from struggling to keep her vintage dress shop open and solvent, recovering from a disastrous love affair that shattered her self esteem, working on the strained relationships she seems to have with her sisters, secretly trying to help those in the community in order to raise her grandmother’s spirits, and navigating the new blossoming feelings she’s having for her handsome, best friend, Jake.

The writing is smooth and polished. The characterization is spot on with a whole slew of characters that are genuine, multi-layered and intriguing. And the plot unravels and intertwines effortlessly into a tender tale about life, love, loss, family, secrets, friendship, grief, sisterhood, romance, and finding happiness.

Overall, The Marvelous Monroe Girls is an uplifting, quaint, entertaining tale by Jump that is the first novel I’ve read by this author, but it certainly won’t be my last. It’s a wonderful start for this new Harbor Cove series with its well-developed characters and refreshing storyline, and I can’t wait to read what will happen next.

Review:

Absorbing, romantic, and heartfelt!

The Family She Never Met is an uplifting, engaging tale that takes you into the life of furniture restorer Jessica Russo who, after years of secrets and misunderstandings, journeys to Miami to meet the grandmother she’s never met and to uncover her mother’s past that unfortunately seems to be littered with a multitude of hurts and regrets.

The prose is vivid and rich. The characters are multi-layered, torn, and sympathetic. And the plot is a well-crafted, heartwarming tale full of mystique, heartbreak, familial drama, secrets, history, culture, hard work, courage, forgiveness, self-discovery, hope, romance, and the struggles faced by Cubans under Castro rule to endure oppression, rebellion, economic instability, and forced exilement.

Overall, The Family She Never Met is a lovely blend of historical facts and compelling fiction. It’s a delightfully touching tale that’s nostalgic, interesting, heartbreaking, and sweet and does a wonderful job of highlighting Piñeiro’s passion for her familial heritage.

Friends becoming something much more in this hilarious romantic comedy from author Ann Marie Walker. A whirlwind trip to Ireland is supposed to end with a suitcase full of wool sweaters and souvenir pint glasses—not a husband you only just met!

After one-too-many whiskeys, fledgling screenwriter Cara Kennedy takes a page out of someone else’s script when she gets caught up in the Irish tradition of women proposing on Leap Day. She thought she might have dreamt everything, until she wakes the next morning with a hot guy in her bed and a tin foil ring on her finger. Her flight is in four hours, her clothes are all over the room, and she has the most important meeting of her career in exactly two days—and on top of everything else, her husband has a dog who thinks Cara is a perfect surrogate mother, despite the fact that she has never been much of an animal lover…

Deciding to work things out stateside, Finn and her new fur baby accompany her to LA, where Finn spends his days going on auditions and his nights charming his new bride, leaving Cara to wonder whether this is real love, or if Finn is another aspiring actor just after her Hollywood connections? With limited time on his tourist visa, will Finn be able to convince Cara that she’s the right girl for him, or will time run out on their Hollywood ending?

Review:

Comical, uplifting, and sweet!

Lucky Leap Day is a heartwarming, amusing tale that takes you into the life of up-and-coming screenwriter Cara Kennedy as she juggles a broken heart, a lacklustre job, a potential career advancement, and a spontaneous marriage to a dishy, Irish cab driver on a special day that comes around only once every four years and after way too many whiskeys.

The writing is light and playful. The characters are kind, easygoing, and clever. And the plot is a fun, flirty, beguiling tale full of tricky situations, tender moments, humorous mishaps, self-discovery, friendship, romance, happiness and quirky traditions.

Overall, Lucky Leap Day is a nostalgic, charming, effortless read by Walker that made me smile, laugh, and dreamily swoon.

From Sariah Wilson, the bestselling author of Roommaid, comes a captivating romantic comedy about what happens when a wedding party mixes business with romance.

Rachel Vinson is a bridesmaid for hire: part confidante, part wedding planner, and one hundred percent pretend BFF. Discretion guaranteed. Her next gig is a destination wedding—livestreamed and sponsored—for an Instagram influencer. That means a paradise of new contacts, which could be a boon to her already booming business. If Rachel can keep the very handsome and slightly too interested best man at bay, that is.

High-tech entrepreneur Camden Lewis must know: Who is this gorgeous, intelligent, and mysterious woman? Too good to be real. Convinced she’s a corporate spy out to tank his company, Camden’s not letting her out of his sight. But the constant surveillance is also opening his eyes to things about Rachel that he likes. If she’s a spy, she’s certainly the cutest one he’s ever seen.

As the week’s worth of wedding events march along, Rachel and Camden are learning almost everything there is to know about each other. Rachel’s made a career out of always a bridesmaid…but perhaps there’s a chance for her own trip down the aisle?

Review:

Cute, witty, and delightfully romantic!

The Paid Bridesmaid is an amusing, absorbing tale set on one of the beautiful islands of Hawaii that introduces you to the intelligent, spunky Rachel and the intense, sceptical Camden as they discover firsthand the power of attraction and just how tempting the other people in the wedding party can truly be.

The writing is amusing and sweet. The characters are charismatic, supportive, and endearing. And the plot is an irresistible blend of shameless flirting, friendship, tricky situations, spirited shenanigans, family, light drama, awkward moments, steamy romance, and the hilarious ups and downs of destination weddings.

Overall, The Paid Bridesmaid is a humorous, swoony, engaging read by Wilson that had the perfect storyline for my rom-com loving heart, gave me a new book boyfriend in Camden Lewis, and introduced me to an amazing cast of secondary characters that I can only hope will someday get a book of their own.
