The Buchanan sisters all share special childhood memories of their Aunt Sassy’s beloved Juniper Inn. There, they frolicked in the snow, baked sugar cookies, and celebrated the town’s annual Christmas extravaganza. They haven’t been back to Colorado in nearly fifteen years, but when their aunt invites them for one last Christmas, they can’t say no . . .

With her ex-husband whisking her children away for the holiday, Dahlia decides it’s time to do something for herself. Juniper Springs is just as beautiful as she remembers, but it’s also full of surprises — including the town’s handsome doctor, who makes her feel like herself again for the first time in years.

To the outside world, baker Magnolia has the ideal marriage. Only the pain and sorrow of infertility have strained her relationship with her husband, perhaps beyond repair. But a holiday miracle is about to change her life.

After a whirlwind romance, youngest sister Rose is about to be married, but as the wedding draws near, she’s unsettled by her fiancé’s expectations that she become a society wife. Spending Christmas with her family could be a necessary reality check — or the beginning of a brand-new happily ever after.

Thanks to the strength of their sisterhood, some mistletoe, and the love of their Aunt Sassy, the Buchanan sisters will discover what it is they truly want this Christmas.

Review:

Heartwarming, engaging, and positively beguiling!

Home for the Holidays is a beautifully written, absorbing story that sweeps you away to the beautiful mountains of Colorado in winter and immerses you into the lives of the Buchanan family as they confront the past, accept the things they cannot change, forgive, accept, repair fractured relationships, take chances, move on, and embrace the future.

The writing is effortless and polished. The characterization is spot on with a whole slew of characters that are multi-layered, genuine, compassionate, and endearing. And the plot, including all the subplots, skillfully intertwines and unravels into a delightfully touching tale about life, love, loss, marriage, parenthood, family, secrets, friendship, happiness, self-discovery, romance, and the special bonds between sisters.

Home for the Holidays is without a doubt the perfect festive read that not only highlights the magic of the holidays but reminds us to always live life to the fullest and surround ourselves with those we love.

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Paris Orphan comes an unforgettable historical novel about a secret collection of Dior gowns that ties back to the first female pilots of WWII and a heartbreaking story of love and sacrifice.

England, 1939: The Penrose sisters couldn’t be more different. Skye is a daring and brash pilot, and Liberty the one to defy her at every turn. Even if women aren’t allowed in the Royal Air Force, Skye is determined to help the war effort. She’s thrilled when it reunites her with her childhood soulmate, Nicholas. She’s less thrilled to learn Nicholas is now engaged to an enigmatic Frenchwoman named Margaux Jourdan.

Paris, 1947: Designer Christian Dior unveils his glamorous first collection to a world weary of war and grief. He names his debut fragrance Miss Dior in tribute to his beloved sister Catherine, who forged a friendship with Skye and Margaux through her work with the French Resistance.

Present Day: Fashion conservator Kat Jourdan discovers a priceless collection of Dior gowns in her grandmother’s vacant cottage. As she delves into the mystery of their origin, Kat begins to doubt everything she thought she knew about her beloved grandmother.

Review:

Evocative, rich, and absorbing!

The Paris Secret is an alluring, highly affecting tale predominantly set in England during WWII, as well as 2012, that takes you into the lives of two main characters; Skye Penrose, a young flier who through grit and determination becomes one of the first woman pilots for the Air Transport Auxillary during the war; and Kat Jourdan, a young fashion conservator who unwittingly unravels a family history littered with secrets, heartbreak, and heroism when she stumbles across a closet full of vintage Dior dresses in her mother’s Cornwall cottage.

The prose is charged and emotive. The characters are courageous, multilayered, and strong. And the plot, including all the subplots, unravel and intertwine seamlessly into a sublime saga of life, loss, family, tragedy, expectations, sacrifice, secrets, self-discovery, friendship, enduring love, fashion, and an insightful look at the important roles and contributions that women had and made during the war.

Overall, The Paris Secret is an exceptionally atmospheric, beautifully written, impactful novel that sweeps you away to another time and place and immerses you into the lives of such enticing characters you can’t help but be thoroughly moved and engrossed. It is no surprise that Natasha Lester has quickly become one of my all-time favourite authors with The Paris Orphan being one of my must-read novels for 2019 and now The Paris Secret being on the top of that list for 2020.

Amusing, lighthearted, and sexy!

Make Mine a Cowboy is a heartwarming, fun-loving tale that takes you to Meadow Valley, CA and into the life of the compassionate, hardworking Charlotte North as she juggles a grandmother in need of assistance, a rewarding career back in New York, and a cowboy who’s slowly stealing her heart.

Overall, Make Mine a Cowboy is a sweet, entertaining, effortless tale by Pine that’s the second novel in the Meadow Valley series but can certainly be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel.

Charlotte has always been a good girl. But after discovering a motivating podcast she suddenly feels restless and sees that being good is getting boring . . .

She’s not just stuck in a rut — she’s buried in it up to her chin. The only company she has in bed is the back catalog of Netflix, and falling in love feels like the stuff of fairy tales. So when she stumbles across the popular podcast Sorry Not Sorry, which challenges women to embrace their inner bad girl, she jumps at the chance to shake things up.

Old Charlotte would never ask for a stranger’s number, go on a blind date or buy lacy lingerie . . . but New Charlotte is waving goodbye to her comfort zone (with a side order of margaritas). And it turns out that good things do happen to bad girls . . .

If you’re a fan of romantic comedies by Sophie Kinsella, Helena Hunting, or Christina Lauren, and love TV shows like Girls, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and Jane the Virgin, you won’t be able to put down this hilarious read.

Review:

Cute, light, and playful!

Sorry Not Sorry is a spirited, witty rom-com about the focused, hardworking Charlotte who after working long hours and focusing solely on her career decides with the help of a podcast to step out of her comfort zone and take some risks when it comes to dating and finding love.

The writing style is funny and sharp. The characters are quirky, amusing, and endearing. And the plot is a humourous blend of life, love, introspection, friendship, embarrassing moments, awkward situations, misunderstandings, workplace drama, taking chances, and the ups-and-downs of finding Mr. Right.

Overall, Sorry not Sorry is an easy, engaging, entertaining read by Ranald that’s bursting with female friendships, self-discovery, and a sliver of romance.

From a “fabulous new voice in romantic fiction” (NYT bestselling author Lael Miller): an arrogant cowboy meets a headstrong woman determined to take custody of his niece, only to realize that she may be the family he was always searching for.

There’s not much that could rattle a cowboy like Reese St. James. But when his twin brother dies in a car accident, Reese is stunned to discover he has a six-month old niece, Sawyer. Wanting to make up for lost time, Reese heads down to Unforgiven, New Mexico, to bring her home. He doesn’t plan on Sawyer’s guardian giving him any trouble, but the intriguing, independent woman is turning out to be more than he bargained for.

Lorelei West had given up hope of having a family of her own until her sister’s tragic death brought little Sawyer into her life. And now there’s no way she’s going to let Reese take her away. Lorelei knows hotshot, good-looking cowboys like him — she’s dated enough of them — and she intends to stand her ground. Yet the more time Reese and Lorelei spend together, the harder it is to deny the attraction building between them. But opening their hearts to a baby is one thing — can they also open their hearts to the possibility of a happily-ever-after?

Review:

Touching, charming, and sincere!

A Cowboy for Keeps is a sweet, heartfelt story that takes you into the lives of Lorelei West and Reese St. James, two strangers who come from completely different backgrounds who must learn to cope with the loss of a sibling, their surprising new status as potential guardians to a child they never knew existed, and a budding relationship that will require a lot of trust and understanding.

The writing is passionate and tender. The characters are multilayered, stubborn, and reliable. And the plot told from two different points of view unravels nicely into a tale about life, loss, grief, responsibility, friendship, family, compromise, parenthood, happiness, and the importance of communication.

A Cowboy for Keeps is the third novel in the Chestnut Creek series, and once again Drake has written a heartwarming, satisfying, engaging, western romance that’s brimming with hope, heat, and heartache.

You can pay a terrible price for keeping a promise…

Evelyn Taylor-Clarke sits in her chair at Forest Lawns Care Home in the heart of the English countryside, surrounded by residents with minds not as sharp as hers. It would be easy to dismiss Evelyn as a muddled old woman, but her lipstick is applied perfectly, and her buttons done up correctly. Because Evelyn is a woman with secrets and Evelyn remembers everything. She can never forget the promise she made to the love of her life, to discover the truth about the mission that led to his death, no matter what it cost her…

When Evelyn’s niece Pat opens an old biscuit tin to find a photo of a small girl with a red ball entitled ‘Liese, 1951’ and a passport in another name, she has some questions for her aunt. And Evelyn is transported back to a place in Germany known as ‘The Forbidden Village,’ where a woman who called herself Eva went where no one else dared, amongst shivering prisoners, to find the man who gambled with her husband’s life…

Review:

Captivating, mysterious, and cunning!

My Name is Eva is an intense, affecting tale that immerses you into the life of Evelyn Taylor-Clarke as she spends her final days remembering loves lost, sacrifices made, and secrets long buried.

The prose is descriptive and insightful. The characters are anguished, resilient, and clever. And the plot using a past-present, back-and-forth style and using a unique mixture of narrative, letters, and crosswords unravels quickly into a tale of life, love, loss, family, friendship, injustice, guilt, self-identity, war, bravery, and survival.

Overall, My Name is Eva is a compelling, touching, haunting debut by Goldring that highlights the inconceivable hardships, suffering, and horrors endured during wartime and reminds us that revenge is always best served cold.

Get swept away by a Regency romance of broken engagements, second chances, and stolen kisses from the author whom Publishers Weekly calls “irresistible”.

After her third fiancé leaves her at the altar, Lenora Hartley is beginning to think she’s cursed. One thing’s for certain: she needs to escape London and her father’s tyrannical attempts to find her yet another suitor. The Isle of Synne, an isolated and idyllic retreat off Britain’s northern coast, is blessedly far from society’s gossip, but it also carries haunting reminders of her first fiancé. Letting go of the past to find happiness seems impossible—until Lenora is thrown in the path of a gruff, mysterious blue-eyed man who makes her pulse race.

Next in line for a dukedom he doesn’t want to inherit, Peter Ashford is only on the isle to exact revenge on the man who is responsible for his mother’s death. Once he’s completed the task, he’ll return to America where his life can finally be his own. Yet when he meets the beautiful and kind Miss Hartley, he can’t help but be drawn to her. Can Peter put aside his plans for vengeance for the woman who has come to mean everything to him?

Review:

Impassioned, engaging, and romantic!

A Good Duke is Hard to Find is set on the idyllic Isle of Synne during 1817 and features the handsome, bitter Peter Ashford, the heir to the Dane dukedom, who is bound and determined to revenge the man he holds responsible for his mother’s death until he meets the kind, disheartened Lenora Hartley, a young woman with heartache and troubles of her own.

The prose is light and authentic. The characters are intelligent, unsettled, and warm. And the plot is a push-pull blend of Regency lifestyle, familial expectations, palpable attraction, undeniable chemistry, desire, friendship, heartbreak, and steamy romance.

Overall, A Good Duke is Hard to Find is an entertaining, passionate, delightful read by Britton that may be the first novel I’ve read by this author but definitely won’t be my last.

Paxton Callahan has been in love with Alana since…forever. Now that he’s living right next door, the electricity between them is about to set the whole Texas panhandle on fire. Review:

Sweet, sentimental, and romantic!

Cowboy Strong takes us to the Texas Panhandle and into the life of the hardworking, competent Alana Carey as she relies on the cowboy next door, the rugged Paxton Callaghan to help her fake an engagement in order to make her father’s final wishes, to see his daughter married, come true.

The writing is smooth and light. The characters are supportive, fun-loving, and endearing. And the plot is a charming mix of family, friendship, nostalgia, tender moments, palpable attraction, undeniable chemistry, wedding planning, and ranch life.

Cowboy Strong is the seventh and final title in the Longhorn Canyon series, and once again Brown has written an engaging, heartwarming, fulfilling tale with just the right amount of heart, humour, and heat to be a truly satisfying western treat.

USA Today bestselling author Farrah Rochon launches a new series about three young women who become friends when the live Tweeting of a disastrous date leads them to discover they’ve all been duped by the same man.

Samiah Brooks never thought she would be “that” girl. But a live tweet of a horrific date just revealed the painful truth: she’s been catfished by a three-timing jerk of a boyfriend. Suddenly Samiah-along with his two other “girlfriends,” London and Taylor-have gone viral online. Now the three new besties are making a pact to spend the next six months investing in themselves. No men, no dating, and no worrying about their relationship status . . .

For once Samiah is putting herself first, and that includes finally developing the app she’s always dreamed of creating. Which is the exact moment she meets the deliciously sexy, honey-eyed Daniel Collins at work. What are the chances? When it comes to love, there’s no such thing as a coincidence. But is Daniel really boyfriend material or is he maybe just a little too good to be true?

Review:

Clever, humorous, and sassy!

The Boyfriend Project is a flirty, charming rom-com about the hardworking, driven Samiah Brooks who after facing the humiliation of a date who likes to three-time and a lifestyle that caters to a little too much work and not enough play struggles to stick to the no-dating pact she makes with her new friends when the deliciously handsome, sweet but spicy, Daniel Collins starts at her firm.

The prose is witty and sharp. The characters are focused, amusing, and brazen. And the plot is a lighthearted, funny blend of life, love, introspection, friendship, secrets, deception, awkward situations, embarrassing moments, taking chances, and the ups-and-downs of being an intelligent, successful, African-American woman in a high-tech world.

Overall, The Boyfriend Project is a sexy, simmering, entertaining read by Rochon that’s brimming with empowerment, female friendships, and swoon-worthy romance.

When she is not writing in her favorite coffee shop, Farrah spends most of her time reading, cooking, traveling the world, visiting Walt Disney World, and catching her favorite Broadway shows. An admitted sports fanatic, Farrah feeds her addiction to football by watching New Orleans Saints games on Sunday afternoons.
