From the author of Doing Harm, a thriller in which a grieving, vengeful husband stalks the surgeon he blames for his wife’s untimely death.

Morgan Finney, a biotechnology tycoon, is a shy, highly intelligent but socially awkward and emotionally fragile man. He vows to kill Rita just as he believes she killed his wife. But first he will systematically destroy her life. Aided by a mysterious man named Sebastian, Finney uses advanced medical technology to brainwash Rita. He tricks her into ruining her reputation and brings her to the brink of madness. Alone, fighting for her sanity and life, Rita reaches out to ex-lover Dr. Spencer Cameron. Together they uncover Finney’s horrific intentions and race to stop him.

Review:

Intelligent, fast-paced and creepy!

In this new novel by Parsons we’re once again submerged in an incredibly detailed, medical thrill-ride that not only demonstrates his ability to write a well crafted, edge-of-your-seat mystery but also highlights his first-hand knowledge of the terminology and lifestyle of being a surgeon.

The writing is well done. The plot is an action-packed tale full of revenge, guilt, moral dilemmas and spine-chilling medical advancements. And the characters, even the villainous one, are intelligent, successful, troubled and developed in such a way you can’t help but empathize with them.

Overall, I would have to say that this is a highly entertaining, captivating read that is perfect fans of Robin Cook and Michael Palmer.

Lisa Gardner’s next thriller following her runaway New York Times bestseller Find Her takes her wildly popular brand of suspense to new heights.

Is he a hero?

Eight years ago, Sharlah May Nash’s older brother beat their drunken father to death with a baseball bat in order to save both of their lives. Now thirteen years old, Sharlah has finally moved on. About to be adopted by retired FBI profiler Pierce Quincy and his partner, Rainie Conner, Sharlah loves one thing best about her new family: They are all experts on monsters.

Is he a killer?

Then the call comes in. A double murder at a local gas station, followed by reports of an armed suspect shooting his way through the wilds of Oregon. As Quincy and Rainie race to assist, they are forced to confront mounting evidence: The shooter may very well be Sharlah’s older brother, Telly Ray Nash, and it appears his killing spree has only just begun.

All she knows for sure: He’s back.

As the clock winds down on a massive hunt for Telly, Quincy and Rainie must answer two critical questions: Why after eight years has this young man started killing again? And what does this mean for Sharlah? Once upon a time, Sharlah’s big brother saved her life. Now, she has two questions of her own: Is her brother a hero or a killer? And how much will it cost her new family before they learn the final, shattering truth? Because as Sharlah knows all too well, the biggest danger is the one standing right behind you.

Review:

Suspenseful, gripping and intense!

In this new novel by Gardner, the beloved FBI profiler Quincy is back and this time his expertise is needed on a case that quickly unfolds to be much more sinister and premeditated than a simple spree killer.

The writing is well done. The characters are troubled, guarded, secretive and complex. And the plot is a compelling, mysterious web of childhood violence, trauma, lies, abuse, corruption, greed and murder.

Overall, this is a well-paced, riveting tale that gives an insightful look into the complexities of familial relationships, foster care and fugitive tracking, and also has some unexpected twists you won’t see coming.

Review:

Disturbing, suspenseful and extremely satisfying!

This is an absorbing thriller that delves into the psychological and emotional manipulation that can occur in a relationship and reminds us that you never really know what goes on “behind closed doors”.

The writing is well done. The story is told in a past/present, back-and-forth style that gives nice depth and understanding to both the relationships and the predicaments the characters find themselves in, and the plot is full of enough twists and turns to keep you on the edge of you seat from the outset.

I have to say this dark, gritty novel is incredibly chilling and if you like psychological thrillers I think you will definitely enjoy it.

Review:

Riveting, highly suspenseful and action packed!

This is a gripping story that delves into the dangers of science and technology when it ends up in the hands of those with god-like complexes and is ultimately a roller coaster ride of secrets, lies, greed and malevolence.

The writing is flawless and fluid. The plot is well crafted, clever, and fascinating. The characters are darkly intriguing, determined, resilient, sexy and strong. And the storyline is a complex mix of clues, chaos, murder, sizzling chemistry, and steamy romance.

Honestly, I loved it. It was by far one of the best romantic suspense novels I’ve read recently and I couldn’t put it down.

This is the eleventh book in the Tracers series and even though I haven’t read any of the others in the series I am definitely going to rectify that very quickly. Pick one up. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Growing up, Kate Priddy was always a bit neurotic, experiencing momentary bouts of anxiety that exploded into full-blown panic attacks after an ex-boyfriend kidnapped her and nearly ended her life. When Corbin Dell, a distant cousin in Boston, suggests the two temporarily swap apartments, Kate, an art student in London, agrees, hoping that time away in a new place will help her overcome the recent wreckage of her life.

Soon after her arrival at Corbin’s grand apartment on Beacon Hill, Kate makes a shocking discovery: his next-door neighbor, a young woman named Audrey Marshall, has been murdered. When the police question her about Corbin, a shaken Kate has few answers, and many questions of her own—curiosity that intensifies when she meets Alan Cherney, a handsome, quiet tenant who lives across the courtyard, in the apartment facing Audrey’s. Alan saw Corbin surreptitiously come and go from Audrey’s place, yet he’s denied knowing her. Then, Kate runs into a tearful man claiming to be the dead woman’s old boyfriend, who insists Corbin did the deed the night that he left for London.

When she reaches out to her cousin, he proclaims his innocence and calms her nerves–until she comes across disturbing objects hidden in the apartment and accidentally learns that Corbin is not where he says he is. Could Corbin be a killer? What about Alan? Kate finds herself drawn to this appealing man who seems so sincere, yet she isn’t sure. Jet-lagged and emotionally unstable, her imagination full of dark images caused by the terror of her past, Kate can barely trust herself, so how could she take the chance on a stranger she’s just met?

Review:

Disturbingly creepy with rich characterization!

This story is predominantly set in Boston, Massachusetts and is told from multiple perspectives, including Kate, a recent victim of kidnapping who agrees to apartment swap with her cousin in hopes of a fresh start; Corbin, the intelligent, remote, secretive cousin; and Alan, the introverted neighbour with a fondness for people watching.

The writing is smooth and precise. The characters are varied, intriguing and dark. And the plot, although not exceptionally fast-paced, does a good job of creating suspense, fear and tension through a character driven storyline and an unconventional narration style in which the same story is retold from differing points of view.

Ultimately, this is a story about secrets, lies, deception, jealousy, manipulation, obsession and murder.

Overall, I have to say I really enjoyed this novel. It is definitely a well written, fascinating thriller that reminds us that sometimes there lies a complex, deranged, horrifying mind behind the normal facade.

Even the perfect marriage has its dark side…

Iris and Will’s marriage is as close to perfect as it can be: a large house in a nice Atlanta neighborhood, rewarding careers and the excitement of trying for their first baby. But on the morning Will leaves for a business trip to Orlando, Iris’s happy world comes to an abrupt halt. Another plane headed for Seattle has crashed into a field, killing everyone on board, and according to the airline, Will was one of the passengers on this plane.

Grief-stricken and confused, Iris is convinced it all must be a huge misunderstanding. But as time passes and there is still no sign of Will, she reluctantly accepts that he is gone. Still, Iris needs answers. Why did Will lie about where he was going? What is in Seattle? And what else has he lied about? As Iris sets off on a desperate quest to find out what her husband was keeping from her, the answers she receives will shock her to her very core.

Review:

Brisk, intense, and extremely suspenseful!

This is a compelling thriller that reminds us how easily life can turn on a dime, and hauntingly points out that sometimes the ones we think we know the best can often turn out to be complete strangers.

It is, ultimately, a story about family, trust, grief, deception, lies, secrets, and morals.

The writing is clear and exact. The plot is brimming with twists and turns, multiple surprises, and fast-paced adventure. And the main character, Iris, is strong, bright, inquisitive and determined.

Overall, this is an intelligent, gripping page turner that will definitely keep you engaged and guessing until the very last page.

If you’re reading this, I’m already dead…

That’s the note seventeen-year-old Haley Cooke leaves behind when she disappears from inside her high school. FBI profiler Evelyn Baine is called in to figure out who had reason to hurt her. On the surface, the popular cheerleader has no enemies, but as Evelyn digs deeper, she discovers that everyone close to Haley has something to hide. Everyone from estranged parents, to an older boyfriend with questionable connections, to a best friend who envies Haley’s life.

Secrets can be deadly…

One of those secrets may have gotten Haley killed. If she’s still alive, Evelyn knows that the more the investigation ramps up, the more pressure they could be putting on Haley’s kidnapper to make her disappear for good. It’s also possible the teenager isn’t in danger at all, but has skillfully manipulated everyone and staged her own disappearance. Only one thing is certain: uncovering Haley’s fate could be dangerous—even deadly—to Evelyn herself.

Review:

Darkly intriguing, skillfully plotted, and incredibly menacing!

In this compelling fourth installment in the Profiler series, Heiter has written a fast-paced whodunit where suspects continually crawl out of the woodwork, competition and jealous rivalry between teens runs rampant, and life on a college campus has a dark side that’s not all fun and games.

The writing is effective. The characterization is spot on with the persistent and astute FBI heroine Evelyn Baine, the strong, dependable ex-HRT agent Kyle McKenzie, and a few crafty, despicable villains that are easy to abhor. And the plot keeps you on the edge of your seat as it submerges you, page after page, into a world full of abduction, murder, greed, arrogance, jealousy, guilt, deception, secrets and lies.

This is my first Elizabeth Heiter novel and although it can be read as a standalone it has certainly entertained and captivated me enough to put the first three books in the series (Hunter, Vanished, and Seized) high on my “to read” list.

Disturbingly clever, highly suspenseful, and incredibly creepy!

This story is the first book in a new series that introduces us to the tenacious, intelligent detective, Kay Hunter, and takes us along as she pursues a serial killer with no conscience and a penchant for afflicting fear.

The writing is clear and precise. The characters are complex, flawed and fascinating. And the plot is an intense, intricate tale of abuse, bullying, manipulation, vengeance, and murder.

Travel with Goodkind on a dangerous journey to the back alleys of the darknet, to the darkest corners of our minds, and to the very origins of what it is to be human.

Review:

Spine-chilling, gritty, and hands down one of the best thrillers I’ve read this year!

As most of you know fantasy and science fiction novels are not my favourite and anyone who’s anyone knows that Terry Goodkind is very successful in those genres, so I have to admit in the beginning I was a little hesitant about reading and reviewing this novel, but boy am I glad I did.

This is a gripping, often gruesome, intelligent thriller that takes us on a journey into the dark and disturbing criminal underworld and immerses us in violence, manipulation, murder, depravity, immorality, wickedness, and pure evil.

The characters are complex, unique, and well developed.  And the story starts off with a bang and continues from there with an incredibly clever rollercoaster ride full of twists and turns, mystery, intensity and suspense that will have you on the edge of your seat until the very last page.

This truly is an extremely captivating novel that will not only shock, fascinate and scare you, but cause you to reflect on what “evil” really means and where it actually may come from.

What more can I say. This isn’t a good book, it’s a great book. Terry Goodkind you definitely have a new fan in me.

Review:

Creepy, menacing, and highly suspenseful!

This is the second book in “The Forgotten Files” series, and this time we join the ruggedly handsome, troubled, Agent Sharp as he hunts for a deranged serial killer intent on finding and creating his own perfect doll, and are introduced to the lovely, intelligent pathologist, Dr. Tessa McGowan, who may surprisingly play the biggest role of all.

The characters are multi-layered, convincing, and determined. And the plot is well crafted, fast-paced, engaging, mysterious, captivating, full of good twists, deviousness, and a little romance.

Overall, this is a well written whodunit that is enjoyable, entertaining, and definitely worth a read.
