And The Next Thing You Know … is a charming enemies-to-more romance featuring the quirky, fun-loving Theo who’s determined not to fall for any slick, pompous lawyers, and Jeffery the sexy, arrogant suit who may just find everything he wants and needs in the one man he least expected.

The characters are bold, amusing, and supportive. The writing style is a unique mixture of inner monologues and narration. And the plot sweeps you away into a push-pull storyline filled with tension, humor, witty banter, shameless flirting, friendship, heartbreak, and love.

And The Next Thing You Know … is a lighthearted, enjoyable read, and even though there are no sex scenes at all in this novel, which I usually love, I have to admit that in this case less is more and the palpable chemistry and attraction is more than enough.

And The Next Thing You Know … is the first novel I’ve read by Hackett and even though it’s the second novel in the Why You? Series and can be read as a standalone I would suggest you check out Where Do I Start? (Book #1) first.

The prose is smooth and well turned. The characters are consumed, troubled, raw, and authentic. And the character-driven plot interweaves the past and present of two multigenerational families as they learn to cope, survive, accept, support and love each other unconditionally.

Edgy, enthralling, and adrenaline pumping!

The Lullaby Girl is an engrossing, eerie thriller that takes you on a journey into the dark and disturbing criminal underworld and immerses you in all the manipulation, violence, murder, immorality, depravity, wickedness, and pure evil found there.

The writing is skillfully crafted and crisp. The characters are relentless and determined, including the self-destructive, stubborn Angie Pallorino whose greatest struggles involve her inability to conform to authority, her secretive past, and the newly expanding intimacy with Maddocks. And the masterful plot will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish with all its twists, turns, and surprises.

The Lullaby Girl blew me away. It was so much more than I ever expected. It had exceptional pace and great depth in both the character development and storyline and made it very evident and clear that White is an impressive storyteller.

The Lullaby Girl is the second novel in the Angie Pallorino series and even though there are some references to events from the previous book it can certainly be read as a standalone. However, I would have to recommend you start this brilliantly clever, satisfying series from the start by picking up The Drowned Girls, book #1, first.

Sapphire, a spunky air stewardess who finds herself in a precarious situation when the sexy, Italian hunk she drunkenly propositioned turns out to be her new boss. And Marco, an intelligent, handsome businessman who finds himself not only struggling to revive a failing airline but also fighting the pull of attraction he feels for one of his new employees.

The prose is humorous and fluid. The main characters are hardworking, endearing, and genuine. And the plot sweeps you away into a push-pull storyline filled with tension, chemistry, friendship, heartbreak, romance, as well as a little insight into the pressures and challenges of the airline industry

The Magic of Stars is the second novel in the Blue Skies Airline series and is a delightfully witty, thoroughly entertaining novel with great characterization, beautiful settings, snappy dialogue and a happy-ever-after ending that will make you smile.

Dark, gritty, and spine-chillingly disturbing!

No Ordinary Girl is a raw, gory thriller full of sadistic violence, abuse, pain, suffering, degradation, exploitation, revenge, sex, and murder.

The writing is macabre and exceptionally descriptive. The main heroine, Aimee, is beaten, battered, resilient and damaged. And the plot, although I think it could have had a little more story between the violence, especially in the second half of the novel, is a gripping, edge-of-your-seat tale that brings every parent’s worst fears to life.

I have to point out that No Ordinary Girl deals with some horrific issues with some explicitly graphic torture and murder scenes so it may not be for everyone. However, saying that, if you’re a huge fan of horror than I think you’ll enjoy this fast-paced, highly imaginative, riveting novel that certainly blurs the lines between victim retribution and callous murder.

Dark, meticulous, and menacing!

Insidious Intent is a riveting tale that immerses you into the evidence collection and investigation into the kidnapping and violent homicide of several lonely, vulnerable women and the hunt for a serial killer with a penchant for fire.

The prose is sophisticated and crisp. The characterization is spot on with all the usual gang back including the resilient, determined Carol Jordan whose greatest struggles involve her own guilt, secrets, demons, and addictions. And the plot is a skillfully crafted mix of twists, turns, murder, police corruption, manipulation, obsession, and deception.

Overall, Insidious Intent is nicely paced and has exceptional depth in both the storyline and character development. And even though this is the tenth book in the Tony Hill & Carol Jordan series, McDermid has written such an intriguing, entertaining tale that new fans will be quickly adding the previous novels in the series to their TBR and long-standing fans will be satisfied, surprised, and eager for book #11.

Poignant, enthralling, and exceptionally moving!

The Pearl Sister, the fourth instalment in the The Seven Sisters series, is predominantly set in the dusty Australian heat during both the early 1900s and twenty-first century as it delves into the life, ancestors, and heritage of CeCe, the struggling, awkward artist who seems adrift and in desperate need of some inspiration, companionship, and contentment.
