But a lot can happen in a very short time, and life in Little Pondale is not going quite as Mia hoped. She may have finally beaten one fear, but now heartbreak threatens to drown her.

And when at last, she starts to unravel the mystery of Matilda’s past, she uncovers an extraordinary plan for her own future. Now just who can Mia trust?

As the nights draw in and cold winds steal through Sunbeam Cottage, she turns to an unlikely source for comfort and support. But with the fortune teller’s warning still ringing in her ears, is Mia about to make the biggest mistake of her life?

Review:

Entertaining, engaging, and magical!

In this fourth and final novel in The Cottage on Lily Pond Lane series, Trick or Treat, we head back to Sunbeam Cottage where special occasions will be celebrated, sinister mayhem makers will be identified, and all of Aunt Matilda’s secrets and plans will finally come to light.

The writing is fluid and clear. The characters are genuine, charming, and fun-loving. And the delightfully captivating plot is the perfect mix of twists, turns, well-timed surprises, friendship, family, and newly blossoming romance.

Overall you can’t go wrong with this four-part series from Harvale that’s bursting with all the quaintness of village life, including an idyllic locale, unique, quirky personalities and plots filled with mystery, excitement, romance, drama and humour, and Trick or Treat is no exception. It’s a fantastic happy-ever-after ending for the gang and a gem of a finish for the series.

Tranquility “Tee” Hammond is head of a law firm. Having escaped a violent husband, with a son she was really too young to have had, her life revolved around her work. There was little time for anything else and she didn’t need anything else. When she was inclined to treat herself to a little sexual pleasure, she engaged the services of Email Indulgence—an exclusive club—one email for one night of sex with a man she didn’t know and didn’t need to care about again. For her, it was enough. But her life was about to be changed by a friend of Tee’s son at university, Barrington Stone, fifteen years her junior who is determined to woo her into an unconventional affair.

Review:

Erotic, angsty, and a little suspenseful!

An Unconventional Affair – Email Indulgence is a sultry, alluring novel that highlights that women can be confident, powerful, attractive, sexual beings at any age and reminds us that sometimes the heart just wants what it wants.

The writing is fluid and precise. The characters are intriguing, complex, and tormented. And the plot is an engaging saga about motherhood, independence, responsibility, age disparity, unquenchable chemistry, seduction, desire, and lust.

Overall, An Unconventional Affair – Email Indulgence is a steamy, emotional, entertaining love story with a surprising twist and unexpected ending that will leave you curious and anxious for more.

Emma Grace Townsend. Five years old. Gray eyes. Brown hair. Missing since June.

Emma Townsend is lonely. Living with her cruel mother and clueless father, Emma retreats into her own world of quiet and solitude.

Sarah Walker. Successful entrepreneur. Broken-hearted. Abandoned by her mother. Kidnapper.

Sarah has never seen a girl so precious as the gray-eyed child in a crowded airport terminal—and when a second-chance encounter with Emma presents itself, Sarah takes her, far away from home. But if it’s to rescue a little girl from her damaging mother, is kidnapping wrong?

Amy Townsend. Unhappy wife. Unfit mother. Unsure she wants her daughter back.

Amy’s life is a string of disappointments, but her biggest issue is her inability to connect with her daughter. And now she’s gone without a trace.

As Sarah and Emma avoid the nationwide hunt, they form an unshakeable bond. But her real mother is at home, waiting for her to return—and the longer the search for Emma continues, Amy is forced to question if she really wants her back.

Emotionally powerful and wire-taut, Not Her Daughter raises the question of what it means to be a mother—and how far someone will go to keep a child safe.

Review:

Riveting, affecting, and unique!

Not Her Daughter is a thought-provoking, clever, tight thriller that highlights just how fine the line between criminal intent and morally acceptable behaviour can be when it comes to the protection of children.

The writing is taut and emotive. The characters are complex, troubled, and authentic. And the plot told from dual points of view and alternating timelines, before-and-after the kidnapping, builds subtly to create tension and suspense as it unravels piece-by-piece all the motivations, actions, personalities, and relationships within it.

Not Her Daughter at its core is a novel about family, relationships, secrets, parental abuse, abduction, and the lengths one will go to protect, care, and love a child. It’s expressive, absorbing, unnerving, and without a doubt an exceptional debut for Frey.

HE WASN’T HERS TO LOVE … BUT HER HEART DOESN’T CARE…

When Isla Evans agrees to switch lives with her rising star of a twin for three weeks, she has no idea the move will thrust her into the same bed as her teenage celebrity heartthrob, Bradley King. Trapped there at her sister’s request, she gives her desire free reign and finds herself falling hard and fast.

And she’s not alone.

Bradley wants a wife to tick all the boxes, save for one: love. It’s not part of the deal, never was, never will be. But when he returns home early to find his hopeful-fiancée behaving all sorts of different, he likes it. A lot. Suddenly, he wants a real marriage, with all the trimmings, and he will stop at nothing until he gets it.

But this Hollywood HEA faces one big hurdle—she’s not who he thinks she is…

Review:

Juicy, romantic, and deliciously racy!

The Good Sister is a steamy, passionate story that mixes the hardworking, supportive Isla who’s determined to not only help out her sister but keep the man of her dreams safely out of her heart, and the charming, delectable Bradley who may finally discover that falling in love is even better than companionship with benefits.

The writing is smooth and sultry. The characters are hesitant, flirty, and endearing. And the plot is an enticing mix of instant attraction, familial drama, steamy chemistry, playful banter, tender moments, and smouldering heat.

Overall, I would have to say that The Good Sister is a salacious, alluring, erotic treat by Stewart that has a lighthearted storyline, engaging characters, titillating romance, and a happy-ever-after ending that will make you smile.

Sparks fly when the hot-shot divorce lawyer meets the high-powered wedding planner. The only question is, what kind?

If you ever get married, remember my name: Max Henderson. In my line of work, you acquire a certain perspective on supposedly everlasting unions. . . .

1. Pre-nups are your friend.
2. The person you married is not the person you’re divorcing.
3. And I hope you didn’t spend much on the wedding because that was one helluva waste of hard-earned cash, wasn’t it?

But some guys are willing to take a chance. Like my brother, who thinks he’s going to ride off into the sunset with the woman of his dreams in a haze of glitter on unicorns. And the wedding planner—the green-eyed beauty who makes a living convincing suckers to shell out thousands of dollars on centerpieces—is raking it in on this matrimonial monstrosity.

The thing is, Charlie Love is not unlike me. We’re both cogs in the wedding-industrial complex. As the best man, I know her game—and I can play it better than her. But after one scorching, unexpected kiss, I’m thinking I might just want to get played.

Review:

Witty, seductive, and wickedly entertaining!

Down with Love is an engaging, adorable, enemies-to-more romance set in the Windy City that introduces us to a whole slew of new characters, including the warm, sweet, charming Charlie who believes in fairy tales and happy endings, and the intelligent, confident, skeptical, divorce lawyer, Max who believes that saying “I do” is merely a waste of time and money.

The writing is smooth and effortless. The characters are clever, fun-loving, and appealing. And the plot is an enchanting, exceptionally funny, perfect mix of tender moments, friendship antics, delicious tension, catchy dialogue, swoon-worthy chemistry, and true love.

I have always been a fan of Kate Meader, and I think Down with Love has just become one of my favourites. I loved the characters, I loved the chemistry, and I loved the storyline. It’s a fantastic start to the new Laws of Attraction series, and in my opinion, it really doesn’t get much better than this.

A game of seduction between two best friends goes deliciously wrong in an irresistible Oxford Novel that brims with wit and sexual tension. Library Journal hails Layne’s work as exemplary contemporary romance.”

Brit Robbins knows that dating in New York City is hard—she just hoped to have it mastered by age thirty. But after yet another promising suitor says they have no sparks, Brit decides it’s time to torch her dating game and try a new plan. And who better to coach Brit through the art of seduction than the guy who first gave her the “let’s be friends” card?

Hunter Cross has always figured there’s nothing his best friend Brit can do to surprise him. But Brit’s request is a surprise he doesn’t see coming—and one he’s definitely not prepared for. Hunter and Brit have always been careful to keep things perfectly platonic, but the fake dates and faux flirting are starting to feel like the real deal. And soon Hunter realizes he has taught Brit too well. Not only has she become an expert at seduction, the man becoming thoroughly seduced is him.

Review:

Witty, charming, and delightfully romantic!

I Think I Love You is a passionate, friends-to-more RomCom about the determined and focused Brit who doesn’t want to be just one of the guys anymore and decides to undertake lessons in the art of seduction, and the sexy, considerate Hunter, who suddenly finds it harder and harder to keep his attraction for his best friend in check.

The writing is crisp and light. The characters, including all the supporting characters, are charismatic, fun-loving, and lovable. And the plot is a perfect blend of drama, heat, emotion, hilarious hijinks, sassy banter, unconditional friendship and true love.

I Think I Love You is the fifth and final story in the Oxford series, and even though it’s a little bittersweet to say goodbye to the characters we’ve come to know and love from the Stiletto and Oxford novels, it is nevertheless a lovely way to catch up on the whole gang and give Brit and Hunter the happy-ever-after ending they undoubtedly deserve.

It’s time to come home to Cornwall

With an exciting new life in Paris, Clemmie Hamilton isn’t looking forward to heading home to the picturesque but sleepy village of St Aidan, Cornwall. However, when she discovers that the cosy apartment by the sea, which her grandmother left to her, is under threat from neighbour and property developer, Charlie Hobson, Clemmie realises she can’t abandon her home in its time of need.

With her childhood friends encouraging her, Clemmie decides to turn the apartment into ‘The Little Cornish Kitchen’ – a boutique pop up pudding club raising money for the repairs to the building in an effort to stop Charlie once and for all. But when Charlie and his easy charm won’t seem to go away, everything soon becomes even messier than the state of Clemmie’s Cornish kitchen…

Review:

Humourous, lighthearted and picturesque!

The Little Cornish Kitchen is a sweet, engaging story that reminds us that sometimes it’s nice to settle down, make roots, and have a place to call home.

The writing is polished and vividly descriptive. The setting is the idyllic St Aidan with its rugged coastline and sandy beaches. The characters including the kindhearted, spirited Clemmie, the handsome, helpful Charlie, and the adorably cute Diesel are unique, lovable, and fun. And the plot is an uplifting, charming journey about life, loss, love, family, friendship, reconnecting with the past, self-discovery, and happiness.

Overall, The Little Cornish Kitchen is an amusing, delightful tale with a splendid cast of characters, beautiful scenery, hilarious hijinks, delicious romance, and delectable treats that is undeniably the perfect choice for any sunny, summery day.

Review:

Captivating, mysterious, and incredibly atmospheric!

The Daughter of River Valley is a lighthearted, Victorian romance that transports you back to 1860s Cornwall where Beth, a fierce, independent, young woman is determined to live and survive on her own after losing her beloved grandfather, and a strikingly handsome, troubled stranger is struggling to remember who he is and where he came from after trespassing in the wrong cottage.

The prose is seamless and wonderfully descriptive. The characters are vulnerable, thoughtful, and intriguing. And the plot, including a series of compelling subplots, interweave and unravel to create a well-paced, engaging story about life, loss, familial love, friendship, secrets, class division, romance, as well as a touch of the importance of industrial mining, and the effects of the Crimean War on the British people.

The Daughter of River Valley is the third book in the Cornish Tales series, and even though it’s the first novel I’ve read by Victoria Cornwall, I can guarantee you it won’t be my last. It’s emotional, humorous, and exceptionally authentic, and is without a doubt a must read for historical romance lovers everywhere.
