A gripping thriller about a woman who must help cover the tracks of her serial killer sister — only to discover her sibling isn’t the only serial killer in town . . . and they’re both next on his kill list.

Carrie wants a normal life.
Carrie Lawrence doesn’t need a happily ever after. She’ll just settle for “after.” After a decade of helping her sister hide her victims. After a lifetime of lies. She just wants to be safe, boring, and not trekking through the woods at night with a dead body wrapped in a carpet.

Becca wants to get away with murder.
Becca Lawrence doesn’t believe in happily ever after because she’s already happy. She’s gotten away with murder for a decade and has blackmailed her sister into helping her hide the evidence—what more could a girl want?

But first they have to stop a serial killer.
When thirteen bodies are discovered in their small town, people are shocked. But not as shocked as Carrie, who thought she knew all the details of Becca’s sordid pastime. When Becca swears she’s not behind the grisly new crimes, they realize the town has a second serial killer who has the sisters in his sights, and what he wants is…Carrie.

Review:

Intricate, gritty, and unsettling!

Look What You Made Me Do is a suspenseful, eerie thriller that transports you to Brampton, Maine and into the life of Carrie Lawrence, a twenty-eight-year-old woman who has spent the last ten years of her life helping her serial killer sister hide a dozen bodies, but when the police begin to discover multiple, mutilated victims buried in the woods that aren’t the result of Becca’s malicious behaviour, it quickly becomes apparent there are two serial killers operating in the same small town, and at least one of them needs to go

The writing is edgy and tight. The characters are troubled, complex, and scheming. And the plot builds nicely as it twists, turns, surprises, and unravels all the behaviours, motivations, personalities, and relationships within it.

Look What You Made Me Do at its core is a novel about secrets, sisterhood, manipulation, coercion, obsession, revenge, mayhem, and murder. It’s an absorbing, creepy, somewhat darkly comedic debut by Murphy that does a fantastic job of delving into all the complex, dysfunctional dynamics that can occur between family members and reminds us just how toxic and evil some of these relationships can truly be.

The Insiders is the first in a brand new, page-turning romance trilogy from New York Times bestseller, Tijan!

Bailey is as normal as could be, with a genius IQ and a photographic memory. But still, normal for her. Then, things happen—a guy breaks into her house in the middle of the night to take her hostage. She finds out her father is actually billionaire tech genius Peter Francis, the same guy she’s idolized all her life. She learns all this when she meets dark, mysterious, and electrifying Kashton Colello. He’s an associate of her father’s, and he gives Bailey two choices—go with him and meet her father or survive on her own because those kidnappers are going to try again. It’s a no-brainer.

After this, three things become clear for Bailey:

1. She’s living at her father’s sprawling estate, complete with bodyguards and the best security that money can buy.

2. She’s no longer an only child. She has three siblings and has no idea what to do with them and vice versa.

3. She is being guarded by Kash himself. Personally guarded. And there is a lot of guarding going on there and some of it is going to drive her crazy.

A complete outsider in a world of wealth and decadence, Bailey has to find her way within a family that has more secrets than she could have imagined. One of these secrets could be deadly…

Review:

Fierce, addictive, and action-packed!

The Insiders is a thrilling, suspenseful tale that takes you into the life of Bailey, a highly intelligent, twenty-two-year-old girl whose life is irrevocable turned upside down after a kidnapping attempt draws her into the exceptionally perilous world of her high-tech, biological father, Peter Francis, who she was never aware she was related to, and where unfortunately it seems adultery, lies, sex, secrets, and danger run rampant.

The prose is taut and intense. The characters, including all the supporting characters, are complex, capable, and resourceful. And the plot is an alluring, twisty tale of passion, angst, wrath, loyalty, heartbreak, privilege, familial drama, duty, sizzling tension, and forbidden love.

Overall, The Insiders is an epic tale by Tijan that features an abundance of sexual chemistry, intrigue, action, and adventure. It draws you in from the very start and keeps you invested and engaged the further it goes along.

YOUR DAUGHTER IS MISSING. HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO TO FIND HER?

When Jo’s teenage daughter goes missing, she feels like the world is collapsing around her.

The police believe Grace is just an angry teenager, punishing her parents by hiding out at a friend’s house, but Jo is terrified that her daughter is in grave danger. With so little urgency from the police, Jo decides to take matters into her own hands.

But, as Jo gets closer to discovering what has happened to her daughter, a devastating secret is uncovered that threatens to destroy the family she has been trying so very hard to protect…

Review:

Simmering, intricate, and sinister!

Deceive Me is a menacing, addictive thrill ride that takes you to the beautiful island of Cyprus and into the lives of the Appleton family as their worlds get turned upside down when their teenage daughter goes missing without a trace, and everyone seems to have something, past or present, they’re willing to do anything to hide.

The prose is tense and tight. The characters are anxious, tormented, and volatile. And the plot told using a back-and-forth, past/present style is an unsettling tale of twists, turns, familial drama, secrets, lies, deception, relationship dynamics, mayhem, and swirling emotions.

Overall, Deceive Me was so much better than I ever expected. It’s a tragic, compulsive, well-executed tale by Cole that highlights the desperate, selfish side of human nature and reminds us that secrets almost always find their way to the surface no matter how well they are hidden or buried.

Event planner Kate Sweet is famous for creating the perfect happily-ever-after moment for her clients’ dream weddings. So how is it that her best friend has roped her into planning a bestselling horror writer’s book launch extravaganza? But the second Kate meets—or rather, accidentally maims—the drop-dead-hot Drake Matthews, her well-ordered life quickly transforms into an absolute nightmare.

Drake Matthews is tired of the spotlight and tired of his reputation as the Knight of Nightmares. He’s really a nice guy! But he’s not prepared for Kate, a fearless agent of chaos in steel-tipped stilettos, or for that sweet sting of attraction he feels for her. She’s inspiring him to take his writing in a whole new direction—one that no one expects. Because now Kate and Drake are changing up the rules, and this plot twist might just surprise everyone . . . including themselves.

Review:

Witty, engaging, and sweetly romantic!

How Sweet It Is is an enchanting, whimsical tale featuring the kindhearted, affable, event planner, Kate and the private, thoughtful, horror writer, Drake as they discover that even though they got off to a rocky start, in the end, they might just be perfect for each other.

The writing is sharp and crisp. The characters are endearing, supportive, and dependable. And the plot is an irresistible, charming blend of tension, humour, chemistry, familial drama, friendship, awkward mishaps, tender moments, self-reflection, tricky situations, taking chances, and unconditional love.

Overall, How Sweet It Is is a delightfully amusing tale by Newton that had everything I look for in a lighthearted rom-com and more. I loved the characters, I loved the storyline, and I loved the happy-ever-after ending. It is undoubtedly one of my favourite contemporary romance reads of the year, with my only complaint being that I now have to wait a whole year, until the summer of 2022, to read the next novel in the series.

She plans to prove there’s a dozen reasons why life isn’t like a romantic comedy, only to discover the one reason it is…

While her friends wish for meet cutes worthy of their favorite rom-coms, Julia is ready to give up on love. Swiping right has replaced getting swept off your feet and good old-fashioned romance has become, well, old-fashioned.

A writer for a popular website, love becomes the last thing on her mind when impending layoffs threaten her job. As Julia searches for the ultimate pitch to impress her boss, she stumbles upon a resort offering guests a chance to live out their romantic comedy dreams. Real life dating is so bleak, who wouldn’t want to spend a week in a fantasy rom-com world with your best friends?

At the resort, Julia literally falls into a not-quite-meet-cute involving an aggressive seagull and an adorably awkward guy named Luke who is also participating in the rom-com experience. Julia hides the fact she is there to do a story, but Luke harbors a few secrets of his own. Among further encounters with thieving seagulls, a gaggle of corgis, kisses in the rain, and even a karaoke serenade, their feelings deepen quickly. But could their love be real when they haven’t been honest about their true identities? Once the fantasy is over, can they have a relationship in the real world?

Review:

Cute, charming, and quirky!

Too Good to Be Real is a heartwarming, comical tale that takes you into the life of website writer Julia Carpenter as she sets off with her two best friends to the Notting Hill Resort to immerse herself in a world of romcoms, forget her lacklustre, somewhat negligible dating life, write a kickass article that will ultimately save her career, and perhaps even experience a perfect meet-cute of her own.

The writing is witty and light. The characters are friendly, sweet, and endearing. And the plot is an amusing blend of life, love, introspection, friendship, family, embarrassing moments, awkward situations, misunderstandings, taking chances, and the ups-and-downs of finding the one.

Overall, Too Good to Be Real is a dreamy, humorous, engaging read by Johnson that will not only make you laugh and smile but also have you hunkering down to indulge in all those old romcoms, like Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink, you can never get enough of.

In her new bestseller, New York Times bestselling Barbara Delinsky explores how lives and relationships are forever changed when three sisters reunite at their family Rhode Island beach house.

One phone call is all it takes to lure real estate photographer Mallory Aldiss back to her family Rhode Island beach home. It’s been twenty years since she’s been gone—running from the scandal that destroyed her parents’ marriage, drove her and her two sisters apart, and crushed her relationship with her first love. But going home is fraught with emotional baggage—memories, mysteries and secrets abound.

Mal’s thirteen-year-old daughter, Joy, has never been to the place where Mal’s life was shaped and is desperate to go. Fatherless, she craves family and especially wants to spend time with the grandfather she barely knows.

In just seven watershed days on the Rhode Island coast three women will test the bonds of sisterhood, friendship and family, and discover the role that love and memory plays in defining their lives.

Review:

Heartwarming, sentimental, and sweet!

A Week at the Shore is an intimate, moving tale that sweeps you away to the beautiful Rhode Island coast in summer and immerses you into the lives of the Aldiss sisters, Mallory, Anne, and Margo, as they confront the past, accept the things they cannot change, take chances, repair fractured relationships, and embrace the future.

The prose is emotive and fluid. The characters are troubled, stubborn, and compassionate. And the plot is a tender tale about life, loss, love, forgiveness, secrets, responsibilities, familial drama, parenthood, friendship, hope, ageing parents, and second-chance romance.

Overall, I found A Week at the Shore to be another heartwarming, uplifting, nostalgic tale by Delinsky, complete with strong female characters, a heartfelt storyline, and an insightful look into the complex, unbreakable ties that bind us as family.

NO BODY. NO TRACE.
NO CRIME?

Niall and Eden Paternoster start their Sunday the same way they always do – with a long drive, a visit to a country house and a quick stop at the local supermarket on the way home.

But this Sunday ends differently – because while Niall waits and waits in the car park for Eden to pick up supplies, Eden never returns. She’s not waiting for him at home, and none of their family or friends have heard from her.

Gone without a trace, Niall is arrested on suspicion of her murder. When DS Roy Grace is called in to investigate, it doesn’t take long to realize that nothing is quite as it seems – and this might be his most mysterious case yet . . .

Sunday Times number one bestseller Peter James returns with the latest installment in his award-winning Roy Grace novels – now a major TV series.

Review:

Intricate, twisty, and clever!

Left You Dead is a well written, perfectly paced police procedural that sees Detective Superintendent Roy Grace and his team investigating the sudden disappearance of Eden Paternoster, a young woman who seems to have vanished without a trace after her husband dropped her off at a local Tesco, and even though the husband seems to be the most likely suspect from the very start something just doesn’t seem to fit, and this case may actually be a lot more complicated than anyone could have imagined.

The writing is effortless and smooth. The characters are devious, astute, and committed. And the plot, including all the subplots, unravel and intertwine into a mysterious tale full of twists, turns, manipulation, deception, desperation, red herrings, police politics, familial drama, and personal tragedy.

Overall, Left You Dead is addictive, crafty, slightly emotional, and unbelievably already the seventeenth novel in the Roy Grace series and even though this one is a little meatier at just over 500 pages, I still have yet to read a book by James that didn’t captivate, satisfy, and highly entertain me and I’m happy to say this latest one is also no exception.

Fans of Lori Foster and Maisey Yates won’t be able to put down this heartwarming, multi-generational story about three sisters’ search to reunite their family and the love they find along the way.

The Buchanan sisters share everything—including their inherited Juniper Inn. But when their mother won’t let go of a decades-long feud with their Aunt Sassy to attend the inn’s grands re-opening, the sisters decide a family reunion is long overdue.

Youngest sister Rose is determined to put together an extravagant celebration. Only she needs to convince a certain surly hardware store owner to help finish the inn’s renovations.

After a heartbreaking end to her marriage, Dahlia and her kids are just starting to rebuild their lives. Dahlia’s even considering opening herself up to love again, but will that upset the stability she’s worked so hard to give her children?

Sassy McGrath has never stopped missing her sister, Lillian, and though they’ve both been too stubborn to reconcile, some shocking news might finally change everything. As family bonds are tested, will these two very different generations of women find the strength to believe in themselves and each other?

Review:

Quaint, uplifting, and delightfully addictive!

In this second novel in the Juniper Springs series, The Summer Sisters, we head back to the idyllic Colorado mountains and into the lives of the Buchanan sisters as they navigate the ups and downs of relocating, renovating their beloved Juniper Inn, smoothing old familial grudges, fresh opportunities, and blossoming new love interests.

The writing is expressive and fluid. The characters are genuine, reliable, and compassionate. And the plot, including all the subplots, is an immersive, enchanting tale about life, love, family, determination, kindness, forgiveness, self-discovery, contentment, friendship, and romance.

As some of you may remember, Home for the Holidays was one of my top reads for 2020, so when I heard Richardson would be writing a second book for the wonderful characters in Juniper Springs, I was beyond ecstatic, and she didn’t disappoint. The Summer Sisters is another thoughtful, emotive, beautiful tale with a lot of heart, hope, humour, and happiness that I am happy to say I absolutely devoured and is certainly one of my top reads of 2021.

From the bestselling author of One Small Sacrifice comes a suspenseful thriller about a dead woman who predicted her own murder—and the sister who won’t let the truth be buried.

When her beloved sister Caroline dies suddenly, Deirdre is heartbroken. However, her sorrow turns to bone-chilling confusion when she receives a message Caroline sent days earlier warning that her death would be no accident. Long used to being a pariah to her family, Deirdre covers her tattoos and heads to Manhattan for her sister’s funeral.

The message claimed Caroline’s husband, Theo, killed his first wife and got away with it. Reeling from the news, Deirdre confronts Theo on the way to the cemetery, and he reveals both his temper and his suspicion that Deirdre’s “perfect” sister was having an affair.

Paranoid and armed with just enough information to make her dangerous, Deirdre digs into the disturbing secrets buried with Caroline. But as she gets closer to the truth, she realizes that her own life may be at risk…and that there may be more than one killer in the family.

Review:

Sinister, twisty, and simmering!

Her Last Breath is a gripping, sophisticated, domestic thriller that delves into the dynamic and intricate bonds between family members and reminds us that everything is not always as it seems and behind all those smiling, happy faces often hides an abundance of secrets, lies, and swirling emotions.

The writing is menacing and tight. The characters are complex, secretive, and troubled. And the plot told from alternating perspectives is ominous and intense as it subtly twists, turns, and unravels all the personalities, motivations, actions, and relationships within it.

Her Last Breath, at its core, is a novel about deception, familial strife, marital discord, manipulation, jealousy, obsession, justice, and murder. It’s menacing, intense, creepy, and overall, in my opinion, a satisfying whodunit.

The world can be a scary place. At least, that’s what Andi Lockley’s anxiety wants her to believe. It doesn’t help that she narrowly escaped a dangerous man years ago, or that every relationship since has been colored with that lingering fear. But things are better now―she’s channeling everything into her career as a horror novelist and true crime podcaster, and her next book may be the breakthrough she needs.

If only her grumpy new neighbor would stop stomping around at all hours of the night.

Former firefighter Hill Dawson can’t sleep. After losing part of his leg in a rescue gone wrong, he’s now stuck in limbo. He needs to figure out what he’s supposed to do with his life, and he can’t let himself get distracted by the pretty redhead next door. But when someone breaks into Andi’s place, Hill can’t stop himself from rushing in to play the hero. Soon, a tentative bond forms between the unlikely pair. But what starts out as a neighborly exchange quickly turns into the chance for so much more…if Andi can learn to put aside her fear and trust in herself―and love―again.

Review:

Intimate, sweet, and hopeful!

What If You & Me is a lighthearted, heartfelt tale that takes you on a journey into the lives of the dispirited, lonely, retired firefighter Hill who, after surviving a fire that claimed his lower leg, is still struggling to come to grips with a new life that no longer seems to have any purpose, and the scarred, sociable, podcaster Andi whose fascination with horror and true crime may have her leaning on her reclusive, reluctant neighbour for protection as well as a little companionship.

The prose is emotionally charged and honest. The characters are hesitant, vulnerable, and resilient. And the plot is a delightfully charming, sensual tale about life, love, trauma, friendship, self-discovery, happiness, taking chances, growth, healing, and the ongoing physical and psychological struggles suffered by those who have endured traumatic events.

Overall, What If You & Me is another uplifting, heartfelt, sensual tale by Loren that is an absolute treat, with its beautiful characterization, unique, unforgettable storyline, and a happy-ever-after ending that leaves you smiling, satisfied, and undoubtedly hoping for more.

Since then, her flirting skills haven’t improved, but she likes to think her storytelling ability has. She holds a master’s degree in social work and spent years as a mental health counselor, but now she writes full time from her cozy office in Dallas, Texas where she puts her characters on the therapy couch instead. She is a two-time RITA Award winner and a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author.
