Review:

Incredibly atmospheric, extremely alluring, and remarkably insightful.

This story is predominantly set in Paris in the late 1880s when the city was bursting with industrialization, immigration, artistic freedom, and high fashion; and is, ultimately, a story about familial obligations, social acceptance, independence, morality, impropriety, secrets and passion.

The prose is clear, precise, descriptive and fluid. The characters are genuine, engaging, and complex. And the story has two distinct plots; one involving the ingenuity, foresight, hardships and struggles involved in the creation and completion of the iconic Eiffel Tower; and the other the budding romance developing between Émile Nouguier, a wealthy, upper-class engineer, and Caitriona Wallace, the lowly, Scottish widower.

I will say that although I enjoyed reading this novel I did find the ending a little lacklustre and wish that it had just a little bit more.

However, overall this book is well written, well researched, with a varied cast of characters that is well worth the read.

Incredibly hot, wickedly sexy, and downright steamy!

This is a great mix of intense attraction, friendship, family, food, sports, and romance.

It is an entertaining story that combines a hunky, muscular, tattooed football player, (need I say more, just look at that cover) with an independent, strong, attractive chef, in a plot filled with smoking chemistry, sporty tidbits, delicious food, and sizzling passion.

If you like sporty contemporary romance with a little spice I can’t think anyone else who writes a consistently fun, engaging novel like Jaci Burton. Indulge this holiday season. You won’t be disappointed!

Review:

This is a fascinating interpretation about the life of Alexandrina Victoria, a young, sheltered girl who became the Queen of England at the age of eighteen, and her dependence and close relationship with the then mature Prime Minister, Lord Melbourne.

It is a story about familial responsibilities, monarchical duties, coming-of-age, friendship, and love.

Queen Victoria’s early reign was during a time when government was in turmoil, the parties in power were changing and the populace was highly critical of the choices and decisions made by the monarchy, and although she was small in stature and seemingly immature she possessed a confidence and strength beyond her years.

The prose is clear and fluid. And the story line takes us into a short time in Queen Victoria’s life when she may have had a strong reliance, attraction, and reverence for the British statesman, Melbourne.

Overall, even though this book is only centred on Victoria’s life from her early teens to her marriage proposal to Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha in her early twenties, it is quite intriguing and captivating and definitely a good choice for anyone interested in the British Monarchy.

Sweet, charming, and delightfully romantic! 

This is a lighthearted, contemporary romance filled with holiday revelry, familial dynamics, friendship, heartbreak and new love.

The writing is fluid. The main characters are fun, easygoing, appealing, and endearing. And the plot has just the right amount of drama, sexual chemistry, and happy ever after we look for in a holiday read.

Overall, this is a quick, engaging novella that reminds us that Christmas is all about family and home really is where the heart is.

Review:

Creepy, menacing, and highly suspenseful!

This is the second book in “The Forgotten Files” series, and this time we join the ruggedly handsome, troubled, Agent Sharp as he hunts for a deranged serial killer intent on finding and creating his own perfect doll, and are introduced to the lovely, intelligent pathologist, Dr. Tessa McGowan, who may surprisingly play the biggest role of all.

The characters are multi-layered, convincing, and determined. And the plot is well crafted, fast-paced, engaging, mysterious, captivating, full of good twists, deviousness, and a little romance.

Overall, this is a well written whodunit that is enjoyable, entertaining, and definitely worth a read.

Review:

Evocative, passionate, and incredibly romantic!

This is a contemporary romance story that takes us on a ride through the hardships of military life, heartache, tension, guilt, romance, and true love.

The writing is smooth and clear. The characters are genuine, determined, handsome, and consumed. And the plot builds nicely and flows effortlessly, using a back-and-forth narration, to give both depth and understanding to all the commitments, obligations, circumstances and struggles each character must face.

I have to say this truly is an enjoyable, easy read chocked full of drama, chemistry, seduction, emotion, and endearing characters you can’t help but root for.

This is the first novel in the new “Anchor Point” series, and I look forward to reading Afraid to Fly (Anchor Point #2), Travis and Clint’s story, due out in early 2017.

Creepy, suspenseful, and incredibly entertaining!

This is a psychological thrill ride of secrets, deception, infidelity, and murder, and raises the question “how well do you really know someone?”

The writing is well done.  The characters are complex, secretive, and fascinating. And the plot continually keeps you guessing with its multiple twists and turns, tension, mystery, and ever-expanding suspect list.

Overall, I enjoyed this novel. It was engrossing, intriguing, and had me contemplating and deducing whodunit from the very outset.

Review:

Erotic, steamy, and full of drama!

This story is told from two perspectives; Brooke, a young woman trying to move onward and upward after suffering some severe mental and physical hardships; and Caleb, a rich, handsome billionaire who has never fallen in love.

The story, for me, started off really well. The plot was interesting and intriguing, and the characterization and budding drama had me completely engrossed and captivated. However, by the second half of the story I was a little less engaged. The plot seemed to become a little flat, and the repetitive dialogue/narration caused the flow to be slightly disjointed.

I have to admit that I was really looking forward to reading this novel, as I really enjoyed reading “The Blackstone Affair” series in the past, and although I didn’t love this as much, I think fans of Raine Miller will still enjoy this first book in “The Blackstone Dynasty” series.

This novel is a hilarious journey to “meet the family”, complete with a meddling mother, conniving ex, eccentric father, and whimsical cousin.

The writing is smooth and effortless. The plot is clever, humorous, flirty, and a barrel full of laughs, romps, embarrassing moments, awkward situations, and entertaining hijinks. And the characters are affable, quirky, self reflective, and genuine.

It’s not often as a book lover that I read a book and wish I could see it as a movie, but this book I can honestly say I think would be a great rom com. It’s definitely got that perfect combination of humour and heart.

Review:

Angst-ridden, passionate, and extremely emotional!

This is a love triangle that takes you on a psychological rollercoaster ride of tension, heartache, guilt, regret, romance, and true love.

The writing is well done. The characters are distressed, hesitant, bewildered, and young. And the plot is told from differing perspectives, and moves back-and-forth between past and present, to create a deep connection and understanding of the relationships between the characters and the circumstances surrounding the predicament they find themselves in.

Overall, this is an enjoyable, easy read full of drama, chemistry, unexpected twists, surprising turns, seduction, and all-consuming love.
